I liked this button because I love how the golden streaks bring out the warm gold flecks in the yarn. After adding the buttons, I didn't think that they took too much away from the classic feel of the collar while adding a little playfulness.
I originally tried to find a nice wooden button, but I couldn't find one that I really liked.
The "Scholar Collar" was a great instant gratification knit. I'm already planning another one in a bulkier yarn. This is the yarn I used for the current one:
