Nik's Knits

There are 30 CDs in Tolstoy's Anna Karenina audio book. I've just finished transferring the first 15 to my iPod.

That's a big book. The book has been sitting on my nightstand, half read, for about a year now. I've joined a two person read-a-long with Knitrix because I thought it was about time to get this thing read. I was reading the book and thought, "Damn, I'm never going to finish."

Then, I realized that I can just have it read to me while I knit. I'd forgotten that audio books existed. After reading in the "I love my iPod" forum in Ravelry, I found that one woman gets them from the library and transfers them to her iPod. I SO copied her.

I never thought that I would like audio books because I didn't think that they'd be able to hold my attention. Besides, I like actually holding a book in my hands and reading it myself. I always imagined that audio books would be read by a person with a monotone voice, and that I'd be bored out of my mind. But this one is great because the reader does the character's voices. Her background in theater really helps to add to her reading of the story.

I've listened to the first two CDs yesterday while knitting. Only 28 more to go.
